Big Mylio Update: Version 24.6

For our Clients with Mylio, they have just released a big update. This will require you to update your devices. Here we will give you instructions for updating and review some of our favorite new features.

New Features

There are many new features in this update. You can review the whole list of features here. Below are a few of our favorites.

1.) Folder improvements, including the ability to create custom sections in your folder view.

2.) Keywords now autocomplete and have been updated with a new style for better UI management.

3.) “Update needed” badges now appear on devices that need to be updated in the Device Panel.

4.) Facial recognition has gone through major improvements, making it faster and more accurate.

5.) Folder and album hierarchy and structure are preserved on export.

6.) HDR video playback now supports down-conversion to SDR to show correct color displays

7.) New Family and Team plans are available with an upgraded subscription. These are great if you want to share your photo library with friends or family while having full control over what they can see and what they can do in the library.

Updating

It is recommended to first update your Mylio library on a computer that is fully synced with your photo library.

How to Update on Computer:

Open up Mylio on your computer. After a few seconds or minutes, it should automatically update. You can check the update status of each device under the “Devices Panel” (computer icon in the upper right-hand corner).

How to Update on an External Hard Drive

External hard drives should automatically update when you plug them into your computer with Mylio running.

How to Update on a Phone

To update your phone, navigate to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, search for Mylio, and you should see a prompt to update. If you don’t see this prompt, it is likely the app has automatically updated.

If you are having issues updating any of your devices, you can try manually updating them here: Download Mylio Photos | Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android.

*This update may cause your Mylio to temporarily slow down. There are a lot of backend features that were added and changed in this update, which can cause syncing and other features to slow down. We recommend keeping all of your devices open for multiple days or nights to allow everything to sync and update—especially if you have a large photo library.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

This Mylio update includes updates for processing images from Apple Photos devices with Apple’s unique photo identifiers. Because of this, when you connect your iPhone, Mylio will want to rescan the images on your iPhone to make any necessary updates to those photos. When looking at the sync panel, this will make it appear as if photos are being removed. That is NOT the case, Mylio is simply re-scanning them and applying any needed changes. If a photo no longer exists on your iPhone, it won’t be re-scanned and will remain untouched in your Mylio photo library. This rescan may temporarily create duplicates. Let everything finish syncing before trying to remove duplicates as most of the time they are just temporary during the sync.

Please note that this re-scanning process can take a while, especially for those of you with large photo libraries. We recommend letting your phone sync overnight, for multiple nights. You can check the status of the sync in the sync panel.

Update Requirements

Older devices may no longer be compatible with this version of Mylio. If that is the case, Mylio will remain on that device but will not be able to update or sync with your other devices any longer.
